About Badlav
Badlav is a non-profit social enterprise, established on 15 September 2015 and registered under the Society’s Registration Act, 1860. Badlav works with people engaged in the act of begging, one of the most overlooked and vulnerable communities in India, often excluded from mainstream development and welfare support.
Our focus is on restoring identity with dignity by creating long-term pathways for sustainable and meaningful livelihoods and education for people engaged in the act of begging. Our aim is to empower individuals to rebuild their lives by sharpening their skills, providing comprehensive rehabilitation.

Who We Are
The inspiration behind Badlav dates back to 2003 when Sharad Patel came to Lucknow from his village to pursue higher studies. Outside the railway station, he saw many people including children begging for food and money, some also using intoxicants openly. This was new for him, as no one begged in his village. The scene made him feel worried and pushed him to think deeply about their lives and struggles.
