Prior to joining our Be A Jagrik programme, they didn’t have a fair idea about the Indian Constitution and its provisions. But after enrolling for the same, they got a good opportunity to learn about the Constitution, its provision and became aware of their rights. Under this programme, in one of their tasks, they got a chance to plan a method to reduce wastage of water by 25% in the campus of Dr. Shakuntala Misra National Rehabilitation University. As a part of this, taps all around the campus were repaired and awareness about water wastage was also created among the students. In another such task, a fund of corpus Rs. 3000 was created with the help of donations, and constitution related books were purchased, and other fellow members under the programme were encouraged to read these books and gain better awareness. They even encouraged their friends to read these books to become aware of the Indian Penal Code, Criminal Procedure etc.
Apart from these, there were opportunities to gain practical exposure while doing such tasks, in an attempt to bring about a positive change in the society at large. Similarly, other actions were also taken. The programme members also visited a nearby bakery and learnt how the leftover food was given way to the Robinhood army to distribute it among the needy. The members were encourages to plan and implement such initiatives.
